Single Vehicle MVC

Command 201, Engine 252, Rescue 255 and Medic 258 responded to a MVC at the 1000 block of Chestnut Ridge Road. Upon arrival, found a tree had fallen causing a vehicle to run over an embankment. No injuries noted. Removed tree and debris from lanes of traffic and stood-by until wrecker cleared. Call cleared 01:15.

Command 201 and Quint 251 responded to an alarm activation at 1160 East Lee Highway. Upon arrival, found construction dust had caused the activation. Call cleared 10:27.

 
Logging Truck Fire

Command 201, Engine 252, Tanker 253 and Medic 258 responded to a reported vehicle fire at the 300 block of Highway 107. Upon arrival, found a loaded logging truck with flames showing from a rear wheel. PPK extinguisher and water used to extinguish and cool the wheel. Call cleared 09:35.

 
Vehicle Strikes Structure

Engine 252 and Medic 258 responded to a MVC at 449 Spring Branch Road. Upon arrival, found a vehicle had struck the end of a mobile home, including the electrical service drop. No injuries noted. Stood-by until AEP arrived. Call cleared 14:30.

Chilhowie Fire & EMS Department's Lifetime Member and former Chief H. Eugene "Gene" Groseclose passed away June 4, 2016. Gene retired in 2005 after serving with the Department for 51 years. He rose through the ranks and held several titles and offices including Chief, Assistant Chief, President and Treasurer. He was very instrumental in shaping the Department into what it is today. He was also very community oriented. He will be greatly missed.
